Henry has joined in congratulating the Reds after they booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a defeat of Bayern Munich.Jurgen Klopp’s side rocked up in Germany and made Bayern look well below par in their own backyard, with Sadio Mane scoring twice and Virgil van Dijk adding another in the 3-1 win.1

It was Van Dijk’s first European goal for Liverpool since his 75million move from Southampton last January, with the centre-back proving to be strangely ineffective in the opposition’s box despite his domination of Liverpool’s penalty area.The Netherlands international was at his commanding best in Munich, with Robert Lewandowski looking a shadow of his former self against Van Dijk.He won everything that came his way to stop Lewandowski ever having a sniff of goal, and Liverpool fans – as they have done since he signed – were lauding the 27-year-old with praise throughout the match and after the full-time whistle. And even the most powerful man at the club got involved – owner John W. Henry.Clearly the American is delighted his investment in Van Dijk is paying off, with Henry sharing a picture on social media platform Twitter of praise for the defender.
