And Tottenham, who lost their Carabao Cup semi-final to Chelsea on penalties just three days ago, endured another spot-kick nightmare as Kieran Trippier blasted wide from 12 yards during a frantic first-half.Spurs, without a host of star players including Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son, toiled in the second-half but Palace held firm to seal a momentous victory. Tottenham were awarded a penalty of their own when Patrick Van Aanholt brought down Juan Foyth, but Trippier fired well wide to ensure the Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the break.It was one-way traffic in the second half as Spurs tried in vain to get themselves back into the tie.Substitute Erik Lamela provided a spark and Fernando Llorente forced another good save from Speroni, while at the other end Gazzaniga denied Wilfired Zaha a third goal.3

But Spurs ultimately faltered without their attacking superstars.Their only remaining hopes of silverware this season lie in the Champions League and an unlikely Premier League title bid.
